With house music & techno becoming increasingly popular each year, there’s been a massive influx of brand-new ravers, party goers, and venues that play 4×4 beats. Because of this, it might be tricky to find the gems in between the rubble. Without further ado, here are five venues you need to have seen in your lifetime, in no particular order.

Remember to pace yourself
Nightlife is fun, but remember that a full night from 9PM until 7AM is a very long time. Don’t start drinking too soon, or too fast. If you’re using drugs: remember to get it tested, and to never use too much at one time. Sit down if you’re feeling tired, and know when to go home. We’ve all had to bring a drunk friend home at some point, don’t be that guy.
Respect the people around you
In nightlife: pretty much everyone around you is there for the same reason as you are. Sadly there are some exceptions. If someone is making you feel unsafe you should go to a bar, or bouncer and tell them what happened or is happening. Never start a fight yourself. Also never cut the line, it’s there for a reason.
Consent is everything
You’re single and going out. Fun! Good luck trying to find someone on the dance floor. Remember to respect the person on the other side though. Never touch someone inappropriately, and always ask if you can before you make a move. No means no, and is not an invitation to keep going after someone. Keep an eye on your friends too. Never leave your drink unattended, some guys will take advantage of this.
Know the music
You of course don’t have to know literally everyone on the lineup, or every song they play. But at least make sure to be a little familiar with the music that is usually played at events from the venue/organization. This way you’ll never be dissapointed by the music played on a night out. Music can make or break a night out at the club, and picking a night with the wrong kind of music will definitely leave you dissapointed.
Respect the dress code, and the cell phone policy
The dress code is there for a reason. It makes sure there’s a homogenous vibe at the rave. Make sure you know what to wear so that you won’t get any nasty surprises at the door. Don’t film with your flash on, don’t take photo’s with flash. Some clubs have a strict no phone rule, adhere by it or risk being banned. Don’t be the person that picks a fight with the bouncer or bartender, they’re just doing their job.
